Important Information

Visas

Students accepted for study in any program with 18 hours of instruction or more need an I-20 form
(Certificate of Student Eligibility) so that they may obtain a student visa (F-1) at the nearest United
States Consulate.
Although the IEP office processes I-20 applications within one week from the date received, it may take
up to several weeks for students to receive the I-20 through regular mail, depending on the destination.
Please send your application for I-20 early to ensure enough time to obtain your visa.
If you apply for an I-20 within 30 days of the beginning of your program, your I-20 will be sent by
express mail service and you will be responsible for the $40 fee.
Students enrolled for a program with fewer than 18 hours of instruction per week may come to the
United States on a visitor visa (B-1 or B-2) or Visa Waiver.
A student visa is not required for the following programs: Conversation and American Culture
Program, TESOL Methodologies Workshop, 4 weeks or less of GBM or GITM, and Exclusive Southern
California Experience.

Payments and Refund Policy

All program fees must be paid on or before Registration Day. Fees can be paid with cashiers check/money order made payable to “UC Regents,” cash, travelers’ checks or with VISA or MasterCard.
Full tuition can only be refunded upon receipt of the following before classes begin: a written request for withdrawal from the program and the original I-20 issued by UC Riverside Extension, if applicable.
Refund requests received on the first day of the program after the first class has started will be entitled to a 50 percent refund of the program’s tuition.
No refunds will be granted after the first day of classes in the program.
Refund requests take approximately six weeks to be processed. Program application and housing
placement fees are non-refundable

Medical Insurance

All students MUST purchase health and accident insurance through IEP. Our insurance provides coverage of $250,000 per accident or illness. It covers pre-existing conditions but does not cover allergies.
Deadlines

For the English language and Academic Programs, applications are accepted until the programs are full.
However, in order to secure space and to allow proper time for processing paperwork and making
housing arrangements, we recommend that you send application materials at least 45 days prior to
the starting date of the program.
For professional programs, the deadline for application is one month before the starting date of
the program or individual module.
For the GBM/GITM Internship Program, the applications should be made as early as possible.

Admission to Degree Programs

Admission to International Education Programs does NOT constitute admission to University of California degree programs. For more information about undergraduate and/or graduate programs at UC Riverside, please contact the offices

Letter of Conditional Acceptance

Conditional acceptance to certain colleges and universities is possible for qualified applicants before they come to the United States.
